We are urgently seeking an experienced, qualified funeral professional to work as a Funeral Director for our established and well respected client, based at their premises in Beeston, Nottingham.

You will be joining a very well-established Funeral Home with a long-standing Funeral Arranger; working as part of the local team, providing leadership and management whilst achieving excellence in funeral services. You will arrange and conduct funerals for the Beeston office, and other neighbouring sites. You will manage the Arranger in the office, and report to the Senior Funeral Director based at Wollaton, 10 minutes away.
Specific roles and duties
- Lead the funeral service crew and ceremonial crew on the funeral ceremony and make sure that all necessary information is given to and understood by the funeral service team.
- General day-to-day duties will include: maintaining a clean & tidy office; answering the telephone; designing and proofing Service Sheets; arranging Funerals and associated admin; preparing invoices and debtor letters; petty cash reconciliation; driving and bearing on Funerals; carrying out removals; assisting in dressing bodies; listing mourners; assisting in memorial sales; assisting in the mortuary; assisting in coffin trimming and accompanying relatives to Chapel of Rest.
- Champion the companies established, professional way of arranging funerals and giving customer service.
- Meeting customers at locations other than those of the company.
- Organising the funeral home on a minute-by-minute basis to deliver for customers.
- “Lead by example” in the funeral home working alongside colleagues, demonstrating and living the standard of performance required by the Company as well as organising the work and people so they can delive rexceptional service.
- Promoting the business within the local community and encouraging colleagues to do likewise.
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and other relevant legislation.
Skills and Experience
- MUST hold a Level 4 NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing (previously Diploma in Funeral Directing)
- MUST hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle with appropriate business use insurance
- Understand and champion the company’s standard of performance in every role and where necessary mentor, coach, discipline and praise colleagues on their work
