Job Description
Funeral Recruitment Ltd are seeking a full-time Funeral Operative to join M. K. Ginder & Sons Funeral Directors.
 
This vacancy necessitates a smart appearance with good communication skills as they will be dealing with and assisting bereaved families, funeral directors, hospitals, nursing homes and crematoria.
Applicants need not have prior experience of the role, but would be preferred, along with a good knowledge of the West Hertfordshire Road Network.
Founded in 1983, M.K. Ginder & Sons are a well-established Independent Family-Run Funeral Director business, with branches in Watford, West Watford, North Watford, Abbots Langley, Bushey, South Oxhey and Bricket Wood.
 
Main roles and responsibilities will include:
 
  • Bearing and driving on funerals and other related duties.
  • Transfer of deceased from place of death to our premises and between our branches.
  • Part of out of hours on call rota.
  • Responsible for upkeep, tidiness and cleanliness of our head office, mortuaries, coffin workshop and garages areas.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of large fleet of hearses, limousines, private ambulances, and other vehicles.
  • Preparation and care of deceased.
  • Preparation of coffins and caskets.
  • Delivery of official paperwork to crematoria and branch offices.
 
Our service must, at all times, be first class and the care and consideration of our clients’ needs and requirements is of the utmost importance.
 
We therefore require a person with a positive attitude, with plenty of initiative to learn the procedures and quickly become a valuable member of a busy close knit working team.
 
Applicants must be willing to build relationships within the communities around our funeral homes.
 
As this role requires successful applicant to be part of the on-call rota team, they must live within a 30-minute travel time of WD24 7GP at peak traffic times to fulfil our call out response time.
 
The applicant must hold a full driving license and be confident with driving large funeral vehicles. Uniform and working clothes are provided. Training and a workplace pension will also be provided.
Contracted hours of work: 40 hours per week, 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. 4 weeks annual leave, plus 8 public holidays. Commitment to 26 weeks on-call. Occasional evening and weekend work possible.
 
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.
 
Remuneration: £12.50 per hour plus standby and additional payments for callouts and overtime, 5% workplace pension contributions and other staff benefits.
