With ambitious plans for growth across the South East and beyond, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to help launch, develop, and grow the brand from its inception.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the General Manager will take overall responsibility for the development, growth, and operational success of Simple Way To Go.
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual with funeral industry experience to help build a new funeral brand from the ground up. The successful candidate will play a key role in the launch of the business, driving customer acquisition, developing operational processes, building a team, and identifying opportunities for expansion through both online growth and future physical locations.
We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical implementation and who shares our vision of offering a genuine alternative to the increasingly corporate and centralised direct cremation market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the launch and ongoing development of Simple Way To Go.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive brand awareness and business growth.
- Increase market share through digital marketing, partnerships, and community engagement.
- Promote the company's unique proposition of delivering local direct cremation services with local care.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure exceptional customer service standards.
- Identify and develop opportunities for future locations and regional expansion.
- Recruit, train, and manage staff as the business grows.
- Establish relationships with crematoria, healthcare providers, hospices, care homes, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor financial performance and contribute to budgeting and strategic planning.
- Develop operational systems, policies, and procedures to support business growth.
- Work closely with the Directors to deliver the company's vision and objectives.
- Represent the business at industry events, networking opportunities, and promotional activities.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
- Essential experience within the funeral profession.
- Previous management experience within a funeral business.
- Strong business development and commercial management skills.
- Experience driving growth and developing new business opportunities.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial, and results-driven approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the direct cremation sector.
- Experience launching new services, brands, or locations.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and online customer acquisition.
- Experience managing multi-site operations.
- Understanding of changing trends and opportunities within the funeral profession.
